As we sometimes say in colloquial jargon, 3ABN 'resembles' that article!

Oh...and the next question might be, "How did those other Adventist ministries NOT pass the test?"

I dont think mainstream news will care until this hits the courts. i dont' think the public would care at this point because looking at it all in a 30 sec. segment, which most news does, would only appear as a few speculations of wrongdoing on the part of a few people. right now i dont think there is enough clarification to assure them there would be no libel or slander. know what i mean? mainstream news doesn't care about Adventist, it cares about sensationalism and scandal. now even tho' we believe there is a lot of scandal, we've had to read a lot, hear a lot and observe a lot to bring us to this point. mainstream news won't do that. they will wait until it hits the big civil courts before they will show some interest. that keeps them safe because they will just be reporting the info the courts have before them.

As far as mainstream news getting a hold of it goes, the longer the delay of dealing with the issues, the more the chance someone will carry the story. For example, http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=3abn lists Save3ABN.com as #5 in a search for 3ABN. That's pretty high for just 2+ months of existence.

Then why did the mainstream news care about the ones in this picture?

If it was "sensationalism and scandal" as you say, that they are interested in, then is it "sensationalism and scandal" to not be forthright and honest about where donor monies are going while going round the world in a private jet, having a fancy home, etc. which that article speaks to in specific relationship to TELEVANGELISTS? (And it wasn't a "30 sec. segment", it was a 4-page online article with references and links to specific names of people and ministries on the "watch-list." Of course, if you saw a 30-second segment on this in addition to the online info, you're ahead of me.)

BTW, anyone else recognize any of the faces in that photo? Wonder how we'd feel if another face entered the picture...

Greenings to you, too, Clay...

If it is number 5 that might carry even more weight on a copyright suit. blink.gif

Seemed to me the latest records were 3 years old. What will make them up-to-date?

Even then some of the ministries listed are featured on 3ABN:

I saw part of this report on GMA Friday morning. The whole report was part of the 20/20 to be aired Friday night and was one of three stories where normal everyday people got fed up with certain situations,a nd did something aobut it. One of the others was a woman who was tired of folks in her neighborhood beeing baby mamas and daddys and not being married. She now has hosted at least one ceremony where 10 of these couples are given a wedding.

Those minitries were chosen because the citizen who did the investigation used to contribute to those ministries, and he got fed up with the opulent lifestyles. So it wasn't like a investigation by 20/20, just a regualr citizen. That is probably why 3ABN was not even considered, the mane is not Adventist, and his concern was amongst the evangelicals.

Now, my thoughts on why it hasn't hit the radar at all is that most have been very diligient in getting even GC to look in on BSDA and save2abn.com, did anybody think to call 20/20, primetime, Dateline, 60 Minutes. I dont' think so. Why? My belief is we are more afraid of this reflecting badly upon the Adventist church, than we are of someone who perpetrates these offense in the name of God. We are content to just go along as long as we don't let the world know that we even have dirty laundry let alone air it.............so it stays in the dark. The Bible, however, promises that it will come to the light. Bringing these things to light within the church has not gotten any kind of decent response, let alone brought any changes. The way I see it, when the media gets a hold of it, it could be a story of how we dealt positively when we, indeed, had issues within the church, or we can continue on the route on which we are travelling and GC will be scrambling a day late and a dollar short, to get some PR aobut 3ABN being and independent ministry and not an "official part" of the Adventist church and how they just happen to carry every important event to the the church on their netowrk. The mainstream media has not picked up this story because it is not newsworthy. This mostly is about a 3 year old and very stale messy divorce. Please folks, this is not newsworthy to most Adventist, so why would the media care? After over 16,000 post on this subject, there is very little substance here nor any recent developments.

Tommy was found out, but now gone from 3ABN and there where never any charges files, no story here.

From what Fran has presented with the financial irregularities, IMO it is not material to make much diferences, no story here either.

So, somebody tell me where is the story?
