Job 12:2 "Doubtless you are the peopole who know everything, and when you die, wisdom will vanish." THE CLEAR WORD

I assume that everyone will applly this to others. I simply find it interesting.

Seems like anytime I try to point my finger at others, I need to just point back at myself. But there are those I know that this verse would apply to, too. yes.gif

The Clear Word aint all that clear.... I prefer this translation and a few added verses for context....

Job 12:1-5 CEV
QUOTE
Job said to his friends: (2) You think you are so great, with all the answers. (3) But I know as much as you do, and so does everyone else. (4) I have always lived right, and God answered my prayers; now friends make fun of me. (5) It's easy to condemn those who are suffering, when you have no troubles.

or this one a little better from The Message Bible

QUOTE
Job answered:

"I'm sure you speak for all the experts,
and when you die there'll be no one left to tell us how to live.
But don't forget that I also have a brain—
I don't intend to play second fiddle to you.
It doesn't take an expert to know these things.

4-6 "I'm ridiculed by my friends:
'So that's the man who had conversations with God!'
Ridiculed without mercy:
'Look at the man who never did wrong!'
It's easy for the well-to-do to point their fingers in blame,
for the well-fixed to pour scorn on the strugglers.

Now as to who I apply it to.... hmmm no one in particular... though it is a often a mistake to make pronouncements about a person when you have not walked a mile in their shoes...

Agreed. Take your pick from any of a dozen real bibles and you will be way ahead.

TY Observer, I'm so glad you did this. For several days now I have been convicted of some verses and I wanted to share them but didn't know how to make the thread applicable to those of us discussing the 3ABN issues. So, here's the scripture I want to share for us:

1 Tim. 6:20-21 & 2Tim. 2:22-26

1 Tim. 6:20-21
"O Timothy! Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and vane babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge by professing it, some have strayed concerning the faith. Grace be with you."

2Tim. 2:22-26
Flee from youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. But refuse foolish and ignorant questionings, knowing that they generate strife.
The Lord's servant must not quarrel, but be gentle towards all, able to teach, patient, in gentleness and humility correcting those who are in opposition: perhaps God may give them repentance leading to a full knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape the devil's snare, having been taken captive by him to do his will.

Be blessed, Mo

Thess. 2:16-17 - Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace, comfort your hearts and establish you in every good word and work."

[quote: fine art]

"
Instead we seem to be using sensationalism, emotionalism, moving lights and motivational speakers that are prepared to manipulate, by well chosen words, the minds of the listeners.
It used to be, messages that were given by our pioneers were wrenched from the depths of the heart by the Holy Spirit.
Humor was not added to get that laugh of entertainment. Drama was not introduced behind the sacred desk to glue your attention.

Man's Rationale has replaced a cry for God's wisdom."

Clay;

Thank you, Clay, for the clarification.

There is no one I can apply the text too. I have never met a person who knows everything; only one that claim they do. There was one in my family that proclaimed all the time, "I am the most perfect human being in the Universe." dunno.gif NOT! roflmao.gif

I am sure that everyone reading my posts has already figured out I don't know everything. I already have that one figured out! roflmao.gif

--------------------
The greatest want of the world is the want of men-- men who will not be bought or sold, men who in their inmost souls are true and honest, men who do not fear to call sin by its right name, men whose conscience is as true to duty as the needle to the pole, men who will stand for the right though the heavens fall. {Ed 57.3}
But such a character is not the result of accident; it is not due to special favors or endowments of Providence. A noble character is the result of self-discipline, of the subjection of the lower to the higher nature--the surrender of self for the service of love to God and man. {Ed 57.4}
