I was watching 3abn the other night with DS interviewing somone (John Carter?) who mentioned the new book DS is writing. What do you wanna bet there will be lots of ideas taken out of context from the internet, more specifically this site. You folks start all kinds of rumors you know that don't have an ounce of truth to them (). And what do you wanna bet this will be an attempt by DS to try and put to rest some rumors that may actually have some truth to them?

Anyway, something struck me odd during DS's interview with Carter (that grim-faced tight lipped evengelist from Australia). They were talking about what to do when someone starts a rumor and Carter said the thing to do is go directly to the person and get the straight facts. Carter said he'd heard a rumor (I think he was referring to the DS/LS cause for divorce) so he called Danny up to see if it was true. Strange thing is he never mentioned one thing about checking with the other side, Linda. How biased and shallow! Nuff said! I fear for God's people if folks like Carter will be judging the world.

Carter went on to tell a story about a rumor in his church that was started about a beautiful woman. So, Carter drug the rumorist over to the lady's house to face her husband--who was a big brute apparently.

Why don't someone get the jump on DS and write the book with the truth, and with the same title, and get it copyrighted (hehe). Or you could call it "The Road to Rumorville" with visions and parallels to J. H. Kellogg in mind.

I saw the same program.

The trouble is that some folks are just so convincing (they can even convince themselves) untill the documented facts from neutral and official agencies are checked on and the facts tell a different story. But most don't check the facts. They accept the accusation that it is all gossip.

My husband asked me "Why do you care, why is it so important to you?" and I told him "It is all about doing the right thing." In the beginning there were so many accusations against Linda that I just wanted to find out if they were true. Now it isn't about Linda, it is about the church and about not supporting evil.

So true Lurker. Most people do not bother checking out the facts and they are willing to just believe or forget the whole matter and let it be. I so agree with your last statement "it is about the church and about not supporting evil".

IMO writing such a book is dumber than a bag of hammers. Why call attention to something? Isn't 210,000+ hits on save3abn.com enough?

Of course, the best thing would be to come clean instead of obfuscate and spin.

And I hear Linda's writing a book, too ...

I've seen something similar to this before. People call Danny, and Danny alone, to find out if something is true or not.

I came to my own conclusion that they are not calling Danny to learn the truth, they are calling to be reassured that their previously-chosen course of action can be justisfied.

Otherwise, they would also call the other party. But, they've already pre-chosen not to hear the other side. Why? Because the other side cannot offer air-time to splash their faces across the TV screen.

I have to consider the possibility that John Carter is travelling down the wrong highway along with Doug Batchelor.

As a child, it was difficult to worship on Saturday, when all of my friends played baseball on Saturday and went to church on Sunday. No child wants to walk east while the peer group walks west.

Today, it's equally difficult to remain faithful to your own ideals, when you see big-name ministers spouting off nonsense. But you have to make up your own mind, and go your own way, despite what you see happening around you.

On Judgement Day, there won't be any John Carter representing me; no Jim Gilley; no Doug Batchelor. I have only one High Priest which is Christ Jesus. I don't subscribe to the idea that opinionated curmudgeons will be judging anybody, although they all seem to be practicing for the job right now.

In the early history of the Seventh-day Adventist Church there was a good preacher who seemed to follow that track. . .

Only several days ago, a friend told me that she was so concerned about what I said, that she emailed Danny, Walt Thompson and Mollie to ask if what I had said was true! rolleyes.gif

What a way to get the answer one wants to hear, rather than exploring the evidence and making up one's own mind! scratchchin.gif Well, I guess that some people are so afraid to move out of their comfort zone.

I think that she honestly beleived that she was following Biblical instruction about going to the person concerned, except that she only wanted to hear one side of the story! nonono.gif She then determined that people are 'jealous' of Danny! Oh, how blind. yikes.gif

Curmudgeon...hehe...I like it too.

I'd venture to guess that 3abn managment is way in over its head when it comes to understanding how to control rumors and hearsay on the internet. I think it got to where it could understand what was presented on TV and how to control what was said there (just fire anyone who disagrees, or like divorce them), but the internet has driven them to the law for the ultimate control. They ain't use to the allowance of personal freedom of opinion at the compound, I'm sure. Not many religious campuses do understand the issue. Management seems to have no idea how small 3abn is compared to the bizzare and inflamatory statements being made on the internet about much larger public and political figures, or even real TV stars. What's been said about 3abn so far is hardly damaging at all, comparatively, and it's bound to learn this sooner than later, IMO.

If I was part of 3abn management, I'd be afraid to go out in public here in the US anyway. There's a lot of people upset with them. Someone from Maranatha asked me the other day how hard it would be to think of a reason to sue any questionable organization, or the principles thereof. Think what might happen if an organization such as 3abn were served about two dozen court papers within one month. Pretty quickly heads would be rotating or pointing upwards for guidance, perhaps with the familiar anger we see demonstrated here by a certain supporter.

Let the gnashing of teeth begin.

I wonder what the "two highest-ranking Adventist executives in North America" would think about the merger then.

Your're talking the truth, Larry. Stimulatious! Let's go hand in hand with Jesus on this trail.
