I clicked onto the "3ABN Store" this morning, and saw that the first two books described/offered were written by Jim Gilley.
Just FYI... Blessings, maggie |

Oh Man! Groan! Sigh! Lord save us! The books may be fine books but we haven't even finished with the inurement issues from the past administration yet.

The top items when I visited were Cheri Peters' videos, and LeRoy Froom's The Coming of the Comforter!
Makes me think they read the Rhema thread ... -------------------- "The entire world is falling apart because no one will admit they are wrong." -- Don Miller, Blue Like Jazz. |

I heard LeRoy Froom's book The Comming of the Comforter! is supposed to be good reading. I was going to find it and read it but haven't bought it yet. Am assuming this book is supposed to counter act the book Shelly Quinn wrote. So it must be a book that is not confusing. In all fairness I haven't read it myself but a diverse group of readers I know consider it the definitive Adventist work on the Holy Spirit. And it's not a new one either. -------------------- "The entire world is falling apart because no one will admit they are wrong." -- Don Miller, Blue Like Jazz. |

Since Soul says it's not new, I guess that would mean your assumption that it was written to counteract Shelly's book, would be wrong....again. |

Since Soul says it's not new, I guess that would mean your assumption that it was written to counteract Shelly's book, would be wrong....again. AT, I gathered from the post of Soul that reading Froom's book could present a more definitive SDA view of the topic than Shelly's book. I did not understand that post to make any comment on the reason for writing of the book, as Froom died many years ago. If Soul has been around SDA circles for some years, he would be well aware of that. So may be your conclusion about wrong assumptions is not valid either. |

His book, THE COMING OF THE COMFORTER, I consider to be one of several that are exceptionally good, and have stood the test of time as a vaulable book for the general membership of the SDA chruch. And, it is such a small book! -------------------- Gregory Matthews posts here under the name "Observer."

L. E. Froom had been dead for many years. His book, THE COMING OF THE COMFORTER, I consider to be one of several that are exceptionally good, and have stood the test of time as a vaulable book for the general membership of the SDA chruch. And, it is such a small book! Froom's main assertion in "The Coming of the Comforter" is that the Holy Spirit had not been with individual believers but only with the corporate body of the Israelite Congregation during during the Old Testament times. He affirms that only after the Pentecost the Spirit began to dwell with the indidual believers. How can such a perspective stand the Biblical evidence that from the beginning of mankind the Spirit was both with the individuals and the congregations? There are many other errors, which escape the casual reader, in Froom's book. Generally speaking, the book is just an echo of the defective SDA theology on the Spirit. Eduard |

Well, then Jesus didn't have anything new to announce in John 15-17, and there was zero significance to the events of Acts 2.
Perhaps we should move to the theology forum for that one. But then it would perhaps be in order to review the thread pinned at the top of those conversations, since this is a Seventh-day Adventist site.
