Well, you can't get much off the beaten path than that. Tobago is well off the beaten path; but 3ABN is very very very big in the Caribbean Region. Most of the people are unaware of the goings on in West Frankfort. And while Caribbean people may not have a whole heap of money, they are very passionate about the spreading of the gospel and they will liberally give to further the work of God. 3ABN is seen as such an avenue. I'm sure when the offering plates are passed in Tobago, the tally will testify to the generousity of the people. Perhaps 3ABN will visit more churches in areas off the beaten path because the scrutiny of its operations and upper-level managemet is next to none... I found a link that gives a history of the churches in Tobago: "The SDA churches in Tobago general take on the name of the Village in which they are located." For instance, this one is located at Mount St. George Village and is Mount St. George Church, or as locals call it, Georgia. http://www.tagnet.org/mt_st_george/history.html I haven't found any information on Sandy River SDA Church, as mentioned in the 3ABN annoucement, posted above. |

QUOTE(Panama_Pete @ Jan 20 2007, 05:44 PM) Ideas. People. Ideas. Seems like there was an '800' phone number on one of these posts. But it might not have been one that is free -- to Tobago? I doubt it. Maybe someone from the 3ABN contingent could call them and inform them of the shenanigans. I would do it myself, but I think it would be more believable if it came from someone directly involved in the 'day to day' of the situation. Does that make any sense? QUOTE(Johann @ Jan 22 2007, 05:27 AM) Is Tobago far off the US Virgin Islands? Are there connctions by boat or ferry? TRINIDAD and TOBAGO http://www.fodors.com/miniguides/mgresults...cur_section=tra By Air There are nonstop flights to Trinidad from New York, Miami, and Washington, D.C. There are nonstop flights from London to Tobago but none from the United States. More likely, you will have to hop over to Tobago from Trinidad on Caribbean Star or Tobago Express. Airline Information Aeropostal (PHONE: 868/623-4174). Air Canada (PHONE: 868/664-4065). American Airlines (PHONE: 868/664-4661). British Airways (PHONE: 800/744-2997). BWIA West Indies Airways (PHONE: 868/625-1010 or 868/669-3000). Caribbean Star (PHONE: 800/744-7827). Continental Airlines (PHONE: 800/461-2744). LIAT (PHONE: 868/627-2942 or 868/623-1838). Tobago Express (PHONE: 868/625-1010 or 868/669-3000). Airports & Transfers Authorized airport taxis can be arranged just outside the baggage claim areas of the airports on both Trinidad and Tobago. (You will certainly be assailed by shouts of "Taxi?" by the nonauthorized drivers as you exit the baggage area.) The trip from the airport into Port of Spain costs about $30 during the day and $45 at night using the authorized taxis. In Tobago, the cost will vary greatly depending on the location of your hotel; a board in the baggage claim area claims to give accurate rates to all the major hotels. Generally, hotels in the Crown Point area should cost about $25 (a bit of a rip-off, as most hotels in that area are within walking distance) while hotels in Scarborough and Grafton Beach will cost approximately $50. A service available in Trinidad, called 628-TAXI, will take you from the airport to any point on the island. The cost to get to hotels in Port of Spain is about $16 each way, but you will have to call from the airport or your hotel to arrange the pickup. Airport Information Crown Point Airport (PHONE: 868/639-0509). Piarco International Airport (PHONE: 868/669-4101, www.tntairports.com). |
