The Three Angels Broadcasting Network, or 3ABN for short, is a not-for-profit, 24-hour multimedia Christian ministry, an American television and radio network which primarily focuses on Christian programming. Its aim is to broadcast the Good News of Jesus Christ worldwide. Among of what offered by 3ABN includes Christian music, inspirational themes from the Bible for both the adults and children, dealing with family issues, Christian lifestyles, and as well as principles of healthy living.

Although it is independently owned and operated (not funded by any church or denominational group), most of the 3ABN staff are the members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.


History
The network's sign on occurred on November 23, 1986, after two years of planning and construction of a satellite uplink site in Thompsonville, Illinois. Initially focusing on satellite broadcasting for the United States, 3ABN has since taken several affiliates on, which broadcast directly into television markets on VHF and UHF stations worldwide.

The network makes claim to a successful weekly program in Russia, begun in 1993. It also expanded into radio and satellite television in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East in approximately 1999-2000. The 3ABN radio network is growing rapidly in affiliates due to the FCC allowing for low power FM stations.

The president of the network throughout its existence has been Danny Shelton, 54, who hosts the network's flagship program, 3ABN Today. Shelton co-founded the ministry with his wife at the time, Linda Shelton. Danny and Linda Shelton were divorced in June 2004. The divorce, and Danny Shelton's subsequent marriage to a woman over twenty years his junior, has caused controversy among parts of the network's religious base. His remarriage to Brandy Lynn Elswick, 33, on March 8, 2006, occured on the set of 3ABN Presents in a non-broadcast ceremony.

3ABN was banned from carriage by cable and DBS by the government of India in May 2006. The Indian Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act of 1995 specifically forbids carriage of networks that disparage groups or religions. 3ABN as a network, and Danny Shelton in several of his books, have attacked the Catholic Church, saying that the Pope is the Antichrist of biblical apocalypse. This stand is accordance to the believe of the early protestant reformer such as Martin Luther, John Calvin, Thomas Cranmer, John Knox, Cotton Mather, and John Wesley.

3ABN has also recently been removed from carriage on the Dominion Sky Angel DBS system which is available on the Dish Network platform. 3ABN has now launched a write-in campaign encouraging viewers and Seventh-day Adventists to write Dish Network requesting that 3ABN be placed on its lineup.

Programming overall on the network is Christian and health oriented, and broadcasts 24 hours a day.

According to a satellite system installer. Sky Angel doesn’t miss 3ABN in their lineup. According to the satellite dish installer, “When the founder of Sky Angel, Robert, passed away recently, his children took over the administration of the satellite ministry.. Robert’s daughter got ‘fed up” with Danny Shelton and his attitudes and “pulled the plug” on 3ABN because it no longer fit their requirements as a Christian Satellite Television Ministry.”

Apparently there have been so many questions about Sky Angel that the installers have been on the phone with technical assistance people at Sky Angel to solve technical problems. Of the 10 or so channels that “went down” on the Sky Angel satellite, only two or three could not be “restored”, one of them being 3ABN.

Whether 3ABN was gone forever from Sky Angel because of technical; problems or because of Danny Shelton’s attitudes is of lesser concern. But it should be of enormous interest to 3ABN that the very satellite system and re-broadcaster that put 3ABN onto the world scene in the very first place, has been taken away from them. 3ABN should consider these circumstances in light of the actions taken by the administrative staff at 3ABN. A good, l o n g look!

Remember that Sky Angel partnered with DISH Network to use the DISH Network satellite receivers and technical support from DISH to make it all happen. Now, of all things, Danny has the nerve to ask us to pressure DISH Network to let 3ABN into the regular DISH Network Programming Lineup. I spoke with Art Sahl about Danny’s proposal. Art was very “kind” in his response when he said that DISH is in “negations” with Sky Angel about the situation. He did not say that it would depend upon the viewer’s requests. 3ABN has been made Sky Angel look bad, so why would DISH want to carry 3ABN when the viewer ship is dropping off, anyway. Why would DISH want 3ABN programming that may eventually cause viewers to drop the premium DISH channels?

Now it is time for 3ABN to look at Danny and his “advisors”, who helped him get into this mess. See if they want more of the same.

Few things have disappointed me as much of the years as seeing what 3ABN has done to itself. It is heartbreaking to see the seeds they have been sowing. Now it’s time for the harvest, a very bitter harvest indeed.

Yes, it did appear to have been written more recently--that's what I found interesting about it. If you google Danny Shelton, his 'hot mess' is all over the internet!

Oh, and if you read one of the letters that Danny sent me--I asked him about Sky Angel booting him off and he said that Sky Angel viewers represented only a very small portion of the viewing audience....another lie I presume!

3ABN owns property in West Frankfort, Ill. One of their tenants is a Subway restaurant.

Well, yes, he is the Land Lord. The auditors found that there was no rental/lease income on their accounting books. Just who got that money and kept it for themselves? There is a gym, Barber Shop and maybe more. Somewhere, I have that information. I will have to see if I can find it.

I wonder where the money went. Don't you?

The general public does not classify fish as meat. If you mention that you do not eat meat, some will ask, "OK, what kind of fish can I serve you?"

Remember "Meatless Fridays"? Fish is served on Friday.

Danny got Nathan hooked (LOL, pun inteneded) on fishing, and tried to do the same with my oldest son. I must say that Danny does cook up a good batch of fish, although somewhat bland. I prefer a little pepper with mine. He catches the fish from his own pond (built with 3ABN excavation equipment), cleans them, cooks them, and serves them (in the house largely built with 3ABN labour).

As to wedding rings? What do wedding and marriages mean anyway? A rings signifies an unbroken circle. That would not apply in the Shelton family, and indeed could be considedred offensive to them. Of course they are banned.

Fran, one of the stores in the 3ABN block is a 3ABN thrift store called the "browse Around Shop." Is there any staement on that?
