Hi, my name is Danny Shelton and I work for 3ABN. It's not a credit your Black SDA that it appears to be nothing more than a tabloid gossip page.
Not one of the people that I could see commenting have even attempted to contact me, that I know of, about all the things they are judging me of. You do have some people in the "know" that you could find out some info from if it means that much to you. Pastor John Lomacang has spent many hours counseling with Linda and me and even made some recommendations to the board about our situation which the 3ABN board took very seriously. As of late Pastor Mark Finley has counseled with both Linda and Me. He agrees with the decision the board has taken on this issue and so does Pastor John. Several others have also counseled us and all agree with the board's action. Paula and Curtis have indeed been back to do more programming without me or Linda. Their program stands on it's own. No one has been hurt like Linda and me have been through this whole situation. We still love each other and spend considerable time together. This situation at 3ABN cannot be judged by onlookers as though you have the truth. Much of this is so personal you will probably never know what has really happened. We encourage people not to take sides, except to support the work of God on this earth. If 3ABN is of God it will continue to bring about good fruit. If it is of Satan it will bring about bad fruit. You be the judge. Please continue to pray for both Linda and me as we both want 3ABN to succeed in taking the gospel to the world. Thanks for listening |

Thanks Calvin for sharing the letter. I would submit to Mr. Shelton that in the absence of information, people of all colors will fill in the blanks.... Go check out VOAF and see what was said there....If he didn't want to share their personal business, then they should have handled it maturely on 3ABN when the rift occurred, not mysteriously have Linda disappear and not mention anything....

I just went back and read the responses to the first thread on this topic. I did not see anything that was tabloidish.... we discussed possibilities and didn't assign balme to anyone, giving them both benefit of the doubt.... all told there were only 53 comments.... On VOAF there were 233 comments on one thread and they closed the thread and then someone started it again and there are 44 more comments on this topic..... here are the links......

Ok, so did we, can we answer Danny? We got what information from another site, I personally knew nothing about it.
Probably, because I don't know all of the facts, and should not, I still believe there was a better way to handle things, but that is just me. Just curious. How did he find out about us, and did he write the other SDA sites who had something to say? Did he completely miss the part about us agreeing that they both needed our prayers? I sent a personal reply to him. But you can reply by stating your opinion here like we do with any other subject. Danny has been lurking here and probably will continue to do so or some other lurkers will get the message to him.
This ordeal is obviously very painful for him. As he said it is personal and we will never know all the facts. The fact of the matter are not important to me. Let's just keep them and the 3ABN ministry in our prayers. I have no way of knowing why he chose to vent to me, or if he has done so on other boards and mailing lists. |

You know Calvin this is another unfortunate situation where we have been attacked and if I am not mistaking we have the freedom of speech in this country. Something was put out there for discussion we did that, and we are looked upon as being gossipers. Now that is just not right. Just like Priness Di said, you had some of us here "SAYING PRAY FOR LINDA AND DANNY!" I do admit that there are things here that may seem like we think all of this was/is a joke but contrary to popular belief in some way I think all people here are saddened about this unfortunate situation.
A lot of times we as humans take circumstances and try to make the best out of them, and the returning back to TBN jokes if that offened anyone I apologize, but it was out of pure fun. Nothing to be taken personal. I offer a sincere apology to anyone at 3abn that might have taken any of this too personal, but all we are doing here is discussing things pertinent to the SDA Worldwide church, from a point of view from people of color! As your statement says Calvin, this isn't an official Church website, and you are not liable to answer to any of these charges about gossip or slander! God bless you, for all you do I know you mean very very well, and I am sorry if I caused you any hardships due to my post! |

I'm sorry he didn't read the messages that expressed prayers for them. I went to the 3ABN site and sent a positive e-mail expressing God's will for their lives including Linda, he probably missed that one too. Tis only human nature to lash out when hurt I suppose.

You summarized much of my email response to him. BSDA is a public open discussion board. We don’t have any sacred cow subjects that are untouchable related to the Seventh-day Adventist church. Danny and Linda Shelton are public figures in the church and their ministry in 3ABN is well known. That puts them in play for discussion. I did not address his charge of BSDA be a tabloid gossip column. I will address it now. There is often a thin line between gossip and information sharing in our discussions, and no doubt we cross that line at times. But BSDA is much more than tabloid gossip as he described us. This board is a mere reflection of your local church and the church at large. We have sinners here of all kind, all trying to make it to the kingdom. What Danny may have failed to realize is that much of the discussion here and I suspect on other Adventist message boards, as well around the dinner table on Sabbath afternoons is in genuine interest for his ministry, some of whom have a financial interest (black people contribute to 3ABN too) and for them. As Di mentioned, many committed to pray for them and requested others to pray. But I can understand that when someone is hurting, they tend to see what they want to see. |
