More of the same. No apology. Now that this is public, we (Tommy's family) are the victims. Discredit everyone that brings this information public.

Carol,
I feel your pain, and i am sorry that it seems to you that this all an attack of a former Co-worker. But, it seems to me if you want to clear your husbands name, you might focus up on the facts of the charges. Also it seemed to me that you said in your letter that you do not know for sure one way or the other if the charges agianst your dear husband are true or false. Has his wife i would think you would want to know for sure one way or the other. May God bless you has you live out what must the painful time of your life. Erik |

QUOTE(erik @ Feb 19 2007, 04:55 PM) Also it seemed to me that you said in your letter that you do not know for sure one way or the other if the charges agianst your dear husband are true or false. Has his wife i would think you would want to know for sure one way or the other. This I find hard to believe... because the wife almost *always* knows... even when the husband thinks he's gotten away with it... when it blows up in hubby's face, she may put on a public face of standing by her man and denying the allegations categorically... but behind closed doors, away from the public eye... she knows her husband's proclivities and knows when he messes up. Carol Shelton has been married to Tommy for 43 years and he's been on the downlow for most, if not all of that time. If there were allegations from a woman she'd have flatly denied it... because she knows that's not how he rolls... but with each successive allegation from boys and young men, the best she can do is " I don't know for sure whether these charges are true or false"? Sounds like Hilary when the Monica Lewinsky mess blew up on Bill... and then as now... the wife's denials aside... she knew the charges were true because she knew that was what her husband liked. Carol's neither confirming nor denying the allegations is to give herself wiggle room in case they are proven true in a public forum; that gives her a degree of plausible deniability and she can, in a worst case scenario, paint herself as a victim of Tommy's deceptions... the wounded wife who believed him when he said the charges werent true... But she knows... the same thing has happened too often in too many places for her not to know. BTJM. I feel bad for the family members. What they need to realize it is not the victims fault or theirs, unless they knew it was taking place. What I do not understand is, if all of these rumors are false, why don't they just come out and say it? If they are true why don't they apologize? I have heard of people that literally got away with murder and when they became Christians many years later they turn themselves in and went to jail.
It would be sad if Tommy had to go to jail at his age but if he did do what he is accused of, think of what he did to those boys. I would like 3ABN to make a list of all that they are accused of and answer the questions one by one. Unless I missed it, I cannot see in either Tommy or Carol's letters where they deny that he did these things, so that leads one to believe he is guilty. What other explanation is there? |

Besides if he admits this stuff happened there is a chance no one will press charges, I mean no has been able to make charges stick. THe reason he can not admit at this point i think is that it would really destroy his brothers hopes of keeping 3Abn under his control. Erik |

Carol had to have an inkling. I think that she didn't want to know that her husband was on the downlow. There were too many whispers and allegations. Don't you think taking boys on trips would have raised a red flag? I believe that the Spirit of God raised some questions to her; she just ignored them. God speaks in a still small. He usually doesn't scream at us.
Carol seems to want sympathy for Tommy and her, but what about the boys and the young men whose lives have been ruined? She talks about the lack of acknowledgement of her pastoral wife's presence when visiting the church. However, IMO, a pedophile is not a true servant of God. Therefore, she actually wasn't the wife of a pastor but of an alleged pedophile. |

QUOTE(awesumtenor @ Feb 19 2007, 04:23 PM) But she knows... the same thing has happened too often in too many places for her not to know. BTJM. In His service, Mr. J This is a great example of how wrong someone's opinion is when they attempt to explain the motives and actions of a person they have never known. You have absolutely no knowledge of what Carol Shelton thinks, feels or acts in any given situation. If you did, you could never have wrote your "assessment" of her character. Again, another perfect example how most of you put your judgments on something or someone that you know nothing about and have had no experience with. This is proof beyond a shadow of a doubt that you can have no valid opinions where you are completely ,ignorant ,of the facts. Proverbs 18:13 says: He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him. Proverbs 18:6 a self-confident fool's lips bring contention, and his mouth invites a beating. I, on the other hand of known Carol for many many years. The woman that you talk about giving herself wiggle room and painting herself as the victim and wounded wife could not get any further from the truth. The following comments from others are, again, ridiculous since they do not know her character or nature. As usual, She is nothing like the person that you depict. She is a wonderful, godly, spiritual person who has always treated others as she would like to be treated. She doesn't gossip, she doesn't look down on others, she is never judgmental and has nothing but love and concern for others. She is quiet, never draws attention to herself except for the love of Jesus that shines through her. From someone who "truly Knows" her, my prayer is that we could all be like Carol. |

I guess if you truely "know" her then we should be able to surmise who you are
