3ABN, the non-denominational TV ministry that has some SDA employees, has referred on-air to the tithe it has received from an individual.

3ABN insiders have reported that this has been the working policy of the 3ABN financial department since its inception, even though it has been officially denied by 3ABN leadership.

See the latest posts on Save3ABN.com for the details of this information. At least one ASI member has communicated concern over the practice.

This whole 3abn saga is getting just sick. There appears no end to Danny's greed. I can't help but think his heros have become the super rich tel-evangelists who have their jet planes and multi million dollar houses. He is out of control. When will the board come to their senses and do the right thing?

If the board of 3ABN is unable to take any action, we would hope that at least Seventh-day Adventist church officials would let the church membership know of their concern about this non-denominational but still supporting ministry of the Seventh-day Adventist church.

This is probably not able to be answered. As far as I know the details of tithe paid to an SDA church have to be kept confidential.

Would I be out of line to ask another question that I have no right to ask?

Does Danny Shelton pay tithe?

Sorry I asked. It just came to me while reading this post.

If I was out of line please delete it.

You are right it should be kept confidential from the public at large but I do know some church members who sit on the nominating committee talk about who pays and who does not. The Pastor often discusses that and does not like some to hold office when they send their tithe elsewhere. At least that is what I have experienced when I have been on the committee even if it was not appropriate to do. I just never questioned it when the Pastor or treasurer talked about it.

Even if we do not know the answer about Danny it is still a good question to ponder. I just wonder if it goes to 3ABN since he is apparently collecting it from others. I would never have guessed that but out of his own mouth he said it! thumbdown.gif no.gif

It is inappropriate. If any name has a "question" as to whether they are in good aregular standing and fit to hold office, the one and only thing the Pator is to say is that there is a question about that name and move the committe on the to the next name. The committs is not to know why there is a question, whther it is tithe or anything else. Just that they cannot serve that year. Period.

Now, I do not se the problem with asking if Danny pays tithe and where it goes, since he is bold enough to accept folks tithe into his ministry instead of encouageing them to pay it through their local church. Now don't get me wrong. I am the one who takes my 10% and distribute between "worthy" minsitires wihtin my local church, sending far less that the 10% to the conference office. However, is this case, I see it as further evidence of Danny and 3ABN bascially using the SDA church all these years, undermining it all the while. Also, depending on the answer, could be further evidence that he does not see himself, neither 3ABN as a true part of the church. We already know they consider themselves non denominational, legally admitting to not even uphold SDA doctrine. Encouraging folks to divert their tithe from the SDA church to 3ABN is a natural step in that progression.

That is so Brenda and it would be extremely unethical if any Church Treasurer revealed those details to anyone.

This is a little off topic, but here is an interesting news article.
Jerry Yang, a 39 year old psychologist just won the world's championship of poker in Las Vegas. He will give 10% of his $8.25 million winnings to charities including Ronald McDonald House, Make a Wish Foundation, Feed the Children, and his alma mater, Loma Linda University.
So, maybe he's not an Adventist, but one never knows. I wonder if the school will accept his donation. If not, I'm pretty sure I know of a "non denominational organization" who would.

That's an interesting story! I don't know why Loma Linda University wouldn't accept the money. (Too bad for the "non-denominational organization!)

LOL! I once knew someone who used to say that it all spends the same, regardless where it comes from. I am sure that a certain "non-denominational" organization would be happy to have its Loma Linda office do up some paperwork with Mr. Yang. I like Jerry's choice of charities. They all do a wonderful work that actually helps people on a human level.

The Loma Linda office would love to do up some paperwork, I'm sure.
