3ABN Announces New President!

On August 30, 2007, the 3ABN board invited Elder Jim Gilley to become the new president of the 3ABN world ministry. Jim joins Danny Shelton, founder and visionary of 3ABN, in a move designed to meet the challenge of rapidly expanding opportunities opening up to the ministry. Daily, signs in the world about us shout of the momentous times in which we live. We see a vast world of hurting people crying out to God for they know not what. The 3ABN board has seen this need and heard this cry.

Elder Jim Gilley brings with him a vast experience in administration and in both personal and public evangelism. As such, he is uniquely qualified for this special calling. Building upon the strong foundation already in place, Jim envisions even greater and more cooperative efforts among the many varied ministries of God's people as they seek to reach the honest in heart everywhere, calling them out of Babylon in preparation for the glorious return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Jim will be introduced to our viewing audience in his new role in an early upcoming live television appearance.

Walter Thompson
Chairman, 3ABN Board of Directors

From the Dallas First Church website (Link):

-------
On November 1, 2005, James W. "Jim" Gilley became Senior Pastor of Dallas First Church, after a long career encompassing many positions of leadership in the North American Division of Seventh-day Adventists. Immediately prior to coming to Dallas, he served as vice-president of the Division for five years, and prior to that as president of the Arkansas-Louisiana Conference. His last pastorate in Texas was the Arlington, Texas Church, where he spent seven years, and saw the membership more than triple during his tenure there. For many years prior to that he traveled extensively lecturing on Bible Prophecy.

Pastor Gilley has written two books published by Pacific Press, "The Battle is the Lord's" and the best seller "Keep On Keeping On". He has led numerous city-wide evangelistic outreaches in the former Soviet Union, witnessing over 10,000 people baptized as a result, and more than 25 new churches organized in the country of Ukraine.

Born in Dallas, Pastor Gilley moved with his family to Tyler, Texas, located 100 miles east of Dallas, where he grew up. He then returned with his parents as a teen-ager and began attending the very congregation where he is now pastor. Pastor Gilley again left Dallas to continue his education, receiving his BA from Southwestern Adventist University, his MA from Andrews University, and a Doctor of Divinity degree from Kingsway Theological Seminary.

While general vice-president of the NAD, and owing primarily to his unique blend of talent and temperament, Pastor Gilley was elected to chair the boards of the Christian broadcast ministries Voice of Prophecy, Faith for Today, La Voz de la Esperanza and LifeTalk Radio. He also served as president of each of those corporations, as well as of It Is Written. While serving on over 65 boards and committees, Pastor Gilley continued to accept approximately one hundred speaking engagements each year. Immediately after September 11, 2001, he made his way to New York City where he organized hundreds of pastors, counselors and students to better enable them to minister to the needs of the millions of confused, terrified, grieving and bewildered inhabitants during that very difficult time.

For many years Pastor Gilley has been a much sought after speaker, and as a result, was recently chosen by Adventist Communication Network to be a speaker for their "Adventist Preaching" collection, a series of sermons presented by some of the most renowned preachers in the Adventist Church. He was the twelfth preacher chosen for this honor.

Prior to entering the Gospel ministry, Pastor Gilley's experiences ranged from signing a contract with the Giants' Major League Baseball team, to founding and growing a business with international operations, to running for the U.S. Congress, as well as to many other ventures and adventures along the way. He has known failure as well as success, and feels that he has learned much from every circumstance of his life.

With an abundance of diverse and enriching experiences leading him to the present day, Jim has chosen to spend the remaining years of his ministry filling the pastorate of the Dallas First Church, which he hopes to see grow and prosper, fulfilling its destiny to attempt and achieve great things for God's Kingdom. As always, he is joined by Camille, his faithful wife of 45 years. Four adult children and seven grandchildren bring them endless opportunities for marveling at God's amazing grace and bounty!

A few questions:

1 - Has Jim Gilley officially accepted the request by the 3ABN board?

2 - Will Danny remain in administration at 3ABN, and if so, in what capacity?

3 - Will Jim Gilley be moving to Southern Illinois, or will he stay in Dallas?

BT,

The first sentence in the second paragraph seems to suggest that he has accepted.

Naw, now, that is their claim, FHB, no affiliation with any denomination. Either they Adventist or they are not, They can't have it both ways. Either they lied to the Adventists or to the court, take your pick.

Fact is, they are clearly Adventist, however there is a huge problem with them not wanting to own up to it publicly.

I would like to think that this is extremely poor wording on Walt Thompson's part, which wouldn't be the first time.

Can we epect then that Elder Gilley, in his role as the leader of 3abn, will be making an expeditous statement regarding the 3abn ministry's sorrow and culpability for the actions of Tommy Shelton?

I remember a program on 3ABN where Jim Gilley told about a romantic breakup he had when he was younger. I believe it was when he was in college. He told of the vindictive feelings he had. As he talked I took it at the time that he was referring to Danny's malicious behavior as the natural reaction of a husband who had been betrayed.

Either he bought Danny's telling of what happened hook, line and sinker or else he compromised himself by accepting that "boys will be boys" (chuckle, chuckle) and excusing anything and everything one of them does.

If he compromised his princples", he got rewarded for it. At any rate, I do not think he ever looked for any information other than that which was politcally convenient.

That is why I asked questions 2 and 3.
