QUOTE(PrincessDrRe @ Jul 20 2006, 10:47 AM)

You cannot RIGHTFULLY sit on ANY board and censure ANYONE if you fail to take action against this man.
In response to the board members of 3ABN.
They "do not micromange Danny or the running of 3ABN". "They do not tell Danny what to do."

Words spoken to me by Dr. Thomsen.

So in other words Danny boy can do what ever he wants and the board won't stop him.
I feel for Linda and any others of us that have dealt with Danny and the board of 3ABN.

Just like this is wrong for ANYONE on church board - this is wrong for ANYONE on the 3ABN board.

Don't try to censure a 16 year old young woman for having a baby out of wedlock if you aren't gonna do something about this man. That is my RIDING POINT AND I WILL STICK TO IT.

I might be wrong, but I get the feeling ya'll might be waiting for a while.....

I don't really "await"....because I know the answer/truth.

IOW:

Don't try to censure a 16 year old young woman for having a baby out of wedlock if you aren't gonna do something about this man. That is my RIDING POINT AND I WILL STICK TO IT.

The 3ABN church board tried to issues a censure against Linda. She dropped her membership and joined a local black church in Springfield. She is welcome and happy there.

The greatest want of the world is the want of men-- men who will not be bought or sold, men who in their inmost souls are true and honest, men who do not fear to call sin by its right name, men whose conscience is as true to duty as the needle to the pole, men who will stand for the right though the heavens fall. {Ed 57.3}
But such a character is not the result of accident; it is not due to special favors or endowments of Providence. A noble character is the result of self-discipline, of the subjection of the lower to the higher nature--the surrender of self for the service of love to God and man. {Ed 57.4}

Sooo....from this you are saying that since Danny "got away" with it thus far it is okay per the "law"?

As for being on the board..... have you ever censured anybody? Don't answer that - just know that if you have you cannot possibly have this stance with this Danny Shelton mess because it would be hyp-o-critical to want to do this in your church and not want to do this to leaders who you have representing you.

16 year old women, bad boys move ovah - the SDA's are after you ...... however if you are a leader have a field day! You will be blindly supported to the end.....

nono.gif

For anyone not to simple to see it, Judas was a "church leader". One of the 12 on the board, so to speak. Thus it is simple there are plenty of folk living the life of a hypo-crite on the board of many a church. doh.gif

The web address of ASI Ministries is http://www.asiministries.org/.

I'm guessing that the most effective strategy is for each of us to write to the representatives in our area. I intend to write to our local Canadian representative, as well as some other folks I know.

I suspect it wouldn't hurt to share postal addresses here, though it would not be a good idea to post email addresses, because of spam issues.

It seems as though we are scattering our comments about contacting others over several different threads. It might be more helpful if from now on we put our suggestions for "things we can do" on this thread that Calvin started some time ago. And also that we put our reports here -- both successes and discouragements -- as well as specific occasions that call for information sharing -- such as churches which are hosting 3ABN "rallies".

Earlier in this thread, Sister gave us the text of the email she used previous to the one which is being held this weekend. With appropriate adaptations and personal additions, this might make a good pattern for use in contacting host pastors for future such rallies.

Sister wrote:

Dear Pastor Pete Geli,

I see that you are having a 3ABN Rally at your church on Sabbath, July 29. I would suggest that you do some research at http://www.blacksda.com before the meeting. There is a section in the forum for information about 3ABN, it could be of great interest for you, your church board and your members. Included are a number of articles I have written about the history of 3ABN. I am sure that you will find it quite interesting.

Sister

The next scheduled rally according to the 3ABN announcements page is:

August 18-19, 2006
Dallas First Seventh Day Adventist Church
4009 N Central Expressway
Dallas, TX 75204-3166

http://www.dallasfirstchurch.org/

For more information: Church phone: 214-528-1111
Pastor: James Gilley

LIVE Programs: Central Time Zone

Friday, August 18, 2006
7:00-9:00pm CT -- Bible Question Panel with:
James Gilley, John Lomacang, Ken Cox, Mike Tucker, and Shelley Quinn

Saturday, August 19, 2006
9:30-10:45am Sabbath School Lesson--Shelley Quinn
11:00am-12:30pm Worship Service—Danny Shelton
2:30-4:00pm Sabbath Afternoon Program
Music by: Danny Shelton, Tommy Shelton, Melody Firestone, Darrell Marshall, and John Lomacang
--------------------------------

I hope several here will contact not only Pastor Gilley, but also any church members that they know in the area, as well as Texas Conference officials.

It is my understanding that the Arild Abrahamsen letter was circulated and discussed at the recent meeting of church leaders held in Turkey, so he may not be totally unaware of the situation. But it may be that he does not understand the scope of the problem at 3ABN as extending far beyond the marriage and divorce issues between Danny and Linda. He can learn that here at BSDA.

In response to getting the word out to the churches/Pastors: Doesn't the General Conference have a strict policy for people that have sexually abused children being in the churches?

I know that some conferences do: very strict policies, some conferences if a family comes and sits next to a sexual abuser than that person (abuser) has to get up and move. Can't be anywhere near children! Some conferences/churches have an elder assigned to follow every move the abuser makes.

So since there is a history of sexual abuse with two of the Shelton men who frequently are at the churches, why does the GC or the churches allow them to come into the churchs?

Umm, just food for new thought.

This added to all the other issues with 3ABN.....

People in MSDAOL have been asking how to obtain names and addresses of denominational leaders so that they can write to them about this 3ABN situation. Yesterday, Gregory Matthews posted a message there as to how to do this. Here it is:

"How to get addresses:

1) Probably 90% (not 100%) of the credentaled employees, and a great number of institutional employees are listed in the SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST YEARBOOK, which is revised, and published once a year.

2) In some cases the YEARBOOK will list the home addressess, but will in all cases list the office address.

3) One can go to the institution, or office, and find the names of the poeple holding positions. E.g. the listings for the local Conferences will iist the names of all clergy (and more). One can then chek for addresses, by name, in another section.

4) An abreviated version of the YEARBOOK is posted to the Web. Simply click on the General conference website. IT probably does nto list the home addesses.

5) The YEARBOOK is also on sale in the ABCs, sometimes by special order.

6) Some denominational employees will have there own personal copy. "

Is the Thomas B. Shelton residing in Marion,Ill. the brother
of Danny Shelton? (Tommy Shelton)

He is listed on the Ill. Sex Offender registry. Birthdate is 8/21/50, race=white, height= 5'7".

Is this what the concern is?
Who is the other Shelton brother, and what is his connection to 3ABN?

Hello Everyone--I'm new here and this is my first post. I just wanted to say that I looked up Thomas B. Shelton on the Illinois sex offender list and there is a picture of the man. It is NOT Tommy Shelton from 3ABN. It may be a distant relative, I don't know, but it is not the pianist on 3 ABN.
