New 3abn President, Jim Gilley Options

You'll notice that I haven't said anything negative about the choice of Jim Gilley. My serious concern is in the apparently brazen disregard for Christian principles seen in the choice of words by Walt Thompson.

After more than a year of intense scrutiny, after document after document proving allegation after allegation true, Walt Thompson has the nerve and gall to say that Jim Gilley will "join" Danny? Where is his head at? At what point should his local church hold him accountable for his actions?

As far as Jim Gilley goes, he should very quickly and promptly let it be known that he intends to clean up the corruption at 3ABN, including getting rid of Danny.

And he should promptly resign all church employment if by doing so it will shield the denomination from having to pay for stupid, unneccessary, senseless legal bills.

Document after document proving allegations to be true? You are kidding. We shall see how your "documents" mostly consisting of word of mouth, edited emails and letters (some anonymous) hold up in a Federal court. Your articles consist of the same + speculation, guessing and could be's.

A perfect example would be your allegations against Walt above and your asking where is his head? His head holds up the ears that heard those words come from Jim Gilley's mouth. Jim has proven time and again his support of Danny and 3abn by having them at his Dallas church repeatedly and in fact just recently. Also by appearing at 3abn's last campmeeting and coming to be on the Today program. His support has not wavered through the years and through the lies and accusations. He used the words that he wanted to be a help to Danny and 3abn. Not take over, not clean up supposed corruption, but a help to spreading the gospel which is as it should be. Contrary to all the rumors floating here, he is well respected by the conference and many other pastors all over the country. Too many people know him and the highly respected positions that he has held to be swayed by rumors.

When you thought it would be Doug, you attacked him. Now you know it is Jim G. so he is under fire. Or, in your case Pickle, Walt is under fire for repeating what Jim said. Same old story, same old line. Nothing new here under the sun.

A few questions:

1 - Has Jim Gilley officially accepted the request by the 3ABN board?

2 - Will Danny remain in administration at 3ABN, and if so, in what capacity?

3 - Will Jim Gilley be moving to Southern Illinois, or will he stay in Dallas?

Yes he has accepted
Yes Danny will remain as founder/consultant
Yes he will move to Southern Il

Can we epect then that Elder Gilley, in his role as the leader of 3abn, will be making an expeditous statement regarding the 3abn ministry's sorrow and culpability for the actions of Tommy Shelton?

I believe this has been addressed before when you all thought Doug was taking over. Of course not. Long ago allegations against TS have nothing to do with 3abn past present or future. Contrary to the lies told here, the board minutes will prove, if need be, that TS WAS NOT fired many years ago from 3abn for any wrong doing. Now, that being said, there were no accusations against him during the time that he worked at 3abn in recent years and is no longer there anyway. How ridiculous to think that Doug or Jim is supposed to come in and "investigate" these claims. Give it up. As much as you want to smear Jim and criticize what he does or doesn't do, just look at his resume. Speaks for itself.

Appletree, how 'bout you produce those board minutes so we can see them? Make sure the dates correlate ...

Gilley's resume isn't going to say much about dealing with sin in the camp.

I don't have an opinion as whether Jim is the right guy or not. It remains to be seen whether he'll lead them into a more truthful style of dealing with crises.

I don't know what Doug Batchelor was thinking, or what the behind-the-scenes conversations were. The bottom line was that he wanted to merge and either changed his mind, or had to submit to a board who thought AF and 3ABN together was not a good plan.

Donations at AF went down after the announcement of the merger, did they not? Whether or not Jim Gilley's reputation was good among fellow church employees before, it's not likely to stay high from here on out ... unless he puts his foot down and cleans things up.

Beartrap, I have watched you for many months. Even though one definitely knows what side you are on, you have been very careful in how you word your posts. Lately you have done just the opposite. As in the above, calling Danny and 3abn liars. Could it be that Pickle's and Joy's claims of financial settlements have tempted you to go against your better judgement and make rash accusations stated as fact? Since they have proven time and again to be, less than credible, maybe you would be safer to curb your allegations lest your statements come back to bite you in the...well, you know.

Also, how do you know what has been posted here are lies? Maybe you should take your own advice and "curb your allegations."

The fact that he included "recent years" is aproblem within itself. Actually they all just need to stop talking about this one. They have yet to deny that he approach anybody. They have, however, tried to make teenagers legal age, and everything else under the sun to excuse this behavoior. This only mkes them as sick as he is.
